Learn a bit of history at the Resistance Monument

As you likely know, the UAE was invaded by the Portuguese in the early 1500s due to the area’s richness in spices. However, the Emirati locals did not go down without a fight and fought to repel the Portuguese when they invaded. The Resistance Monument was built to honor the brave people of Khorfakkan who sacrificed their lives to defend their land.

The Resistance Monument is open daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with free admission to the memorial as well.

Snap a few shots at Al Rafisah Dam

If you want to practice your travel photography skills, you might want to consider dropping by Al Rafisah Dam. The sapphire blue waters and the marvelous mountains surrounding it make for a perfect muse for your next Instagram photo dump. Being only a 6km hike and with a peak elevation of 395m, the Al Rabi hiking trail isn’t very challenging and is welcoming to beginner hikers.
